I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Gregg for about 3 months now and I’ve picked up so much. There is always a desire to have results right away with songs that everyone can recognize instantly, but as a true musician I desire more than just playing the latest and trendy songs. Learning from Gregg you get to learn the correct techniques of the guitar (I’m learning bass) and understand how to start reading music. The old phrase, “Practice makes perfect” has been used a lot and people tend to stop practicing cause the drills you learn are boring. Not so with the lessons I learn from Gregg. Yes there are some boring lessons, but there are a lot more interesting ones.
Getting to his location, you might initially miss it. He does teach out of a basement of a row house. But it really is more like a studio and you do feel comfortable in that setting. Don’t have a guitar? No worries. He has a few instruments there and you can just come as you are. I did end up purchasing a bass for my own improvement but for a while there I was strictly learning from his bass.
If you ever wanted to learn how to play a guitar or want to improve your technique, definitely come down and take a lesson or ten and your skills will improve greatly! I typically do not give high praise to those who teach music or teach period, (yes I’m pretty critical in that respect) but I can give full support to this.
